I only just recently saw that Frank Zwinkels had passed so apologise for the lateness in sending this. Hopefully someone could pass this message on to Maria. I know both Frank and Maria from Sacred Heart Church where I had the pleasure of working for a number of years. Frank was always a special parishioner and person. His smile when he met you was genuine. What a lovely lovely man he was. He will be truly missed by Maria, all his family and his many friends. Shelley Craigon [England, UK]

In memory of my father in-law from his “best” son-in-law:
I met Frank (and family) for the first time in July, 1989. I started dating his daughter (Karin) in March of that year, and July was the time I got to “meet the family”. It was clear, Frank was a strong individual who commanded respect. Frank welcomed me and put me to work immediately…something I was used to growing up in a family run business…plus 1 point. Prayers at meals and church on Sundays was another mutually shared and homely experience deeply instilled in Frank (and family)…plus 1 point. Frank, when not growing flowers, was also a Plumber, and we shared some mutual experiences here…plus 1 point. He quickly discovered, however, that I didn’t know a lot about flowers; couldn’t distinguish a weed from a flower or know / name Marigolds and Daisies…minus 1 point. Not sure if it was the points in my favor or the just the Grace of God, but Frank (and Maria) granted me permission to marry Karin, and I am forever grateful for this blessing. Frank has been an active father in-law, mentor, and grandfather ever since. He had a divine joyful smile when surrounded by grandchildren, and I know they will all miss him now. I will miss his distinguishing bellowing voice calling out, “REIT!” when calling for his wife Maria (in Dutch). I will also miss his ongoing advice / interest in growing awesome tomatoes!
Frank had a strong faith, that God was leading him to a better place regardless of his circumstances. Thinking about him now, I believe the theme from Proverbs 3:5-6 resonates and sums up my father in-law:
• Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
• Lean not in your own understanding,
• In all your ways, submit to him.
And, from one Plumber to another, may gravity be your friend.
Your “best” (and only) son in-law,
Bob

My condolences to Maria, Maurice, Rene, Karin and Andrew on the passing of Frank. As a result of my mother Francine, being a cousin of Maria, we have known the Zwinkels family as long as I can remember. One of my oldest memories of Frank was how he singlehandedly built an addition on our home giving us much needed space - I was a young child at the time. I will remember Frank as someone who was skilled and industrious. Growing up, I remember the family visits with the Zwinkels family including enjoying winter sports such as skating and skiing with them - good memories!
Frank's lasting legacy are his children and grandchildren. Please know that you are all in our prayers during this difficult time.
