Obituary of Diane Kittay
At her residence in London, Diane Kittay went to be with her Creator, in her 51st year. Born into the Yellow Quill First Nation in Saskatchewan, Diane was an Anishinaabe Saulteaux kwe. Her spirit name was Ozhaawshkoo Giizhgoo, or Blue Sky Woman.
Diane was the daughter of Clayton and Cecilia, sister to Maggie, Mavis, Carolyn and Demond, and an Auntie, niece and cousin to many. There were other siblings and relatives she never got to meet as she was taken during the 60s Scoop and adopted by Margie and David Gabriel in Brantford, ON. She’s predeceased by her brother Christopher Gabriel, and survived by Ian (Emily), David (Gail) and Vanessa.
She became a student at Robarts School for the Deaf in London, and it was in London where she began her reclamation and healing journey. Diane was a bright light and proud to be a Sundancer. She was a beautiful helper who loved to sing, bead, embroider, drink coffee and laugh. She was a wonderful rememberer of birthdays and generous with her gifts. She was deeply loved by many, including her lifelong friends Heather & Lesley, the Johnson, Whiteye and King families, and Reta and friends at My Sisters Place.
A celebration of Diane’s life and feast will take place, outside, at her sister Tammy’s residence in Komoka, 22755 Komoka Rd, on Sunday, September 24th at 2PM.

Cremation has taken place with inurnment at a later date Yellow Quill, Saskatchewan.
