Carol Huston

Obituary of Carol Ann Huston

Quietly at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Hospice Care, Carol Ann Huston (nee Griffiths), in her 80th year was called home on May 25, 2023.  Beloved wife of Larry (Lawrence James) Huston for 61+ years.  Mother of Michael James (Ruth), Jeffrey Allan, and Gregory Todd. Grandmother of Wesley (Brittany), Lyndsay (Jason), Quinton (Taylor), Madeline, Peyton, Kelvin and Curtis.  Cherished GG to her first great grandchild, Charlotte Rose Huston.  Pre-deceased by her parents, Fredrick (1988) and Eleanora (1978) Griffiths, many aunts and uncles and her grandson, Thadius Kenneth (Tad) Huston (2000).

Carol spent many years riding the spectator bench at ball diamonds and ball parks across Ontario supporting Coach Larry and her boys during the Melbourne Merc fastball days and years.  Carol was an avid knitter and enjoyed knitting baby blankets, sweaters, hats and booties.  She created many beautiful knit garments for her grandchildren and others to wear.  She tried her hand at quilting and spent many hours crafting lap blankets for Alzheimer patients.  A wizard at the newspaper crossword and word scramble puzzles.

In her younger years Carol worked dispatch for the Caradoc Ekfrid Telephone Company and at the Strathroy Police Department.  Many local residents will remember Carol as their school bus drivers during their elementary school years at Caradoc South Public School.  Carol’s greatest accomplishment, however, was her family, her boys and their families.  She and Larry raised three boys and she proudly referred to them as “My Three Sons”!

To honour Carol’s life, a private graveside service will be held for her immediate family only.  Elliott Madill Funeral Home entrusted with these arrangements.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to all of the medical professionals for their care and compassion while Carol was a patient at both LHSC, Victoria Campus and SMGH, Strathroy Hospital.  We are grateful for the professional care and support during this difficult time.

If you wish to honour Carol’s life, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, a charity of your choice or SMGH.  We are lucky to have the Hospice room at SMGH available for privacy and supportive care for families in need when their loved one is ill.
