Obituary of Bruce Wallace McCallum
With gratitude for the life lived the family of Bruce Wallace McCallum announce his passing on Wednesday May 23,2018 at the age of 94 years at the Perley-Rideau Veterans Health Centre , Ottawa Ontario. Bruce was born May 14,1924 in Glencoe Ontario to John (Jack) McCallum and Lillian (MacFarlene) McCallum.
Bruce was a licensed Mechanic and held a private pilots license. He was a life long learner. At the age of 18 he joined to serve with the Canadian Forces, Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders in World War II in Belguim and Holland where he was captured.
Returning to Canada he worked with his father in their own auto and farm machinery business. He later worked in a knitting factory as a millwright. In 1959, he joined the Effort Manufacturing Company in Mount Brydges Ontario eventually becoming the business owner where he enhanced and stream lined the manufacturing process for bleach and other cleaning supplies and developed a regional wholesale market.
Bruce had a wide range of interests and accomplished a number of notable projects including a house, sail boat , grandfather clock and his passion a homebuilt aircraft. He enjoyed watching nature and loved his various pets . He was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping up with current events. When given the opportunity he enjoyed a lively debate about politics or theology. Bruce was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Gideons International and the Glencoe Camera Club. He served as deacon of the churches of Mount Brydges and later First Baptist Church, Fort Erie.
Bruce was predeceased by his parents , his sister Jean Simpson, brother in-law Ernest , his infant sister Doris Mae and his brother John Dougald , his first wife Lucy (Leeson), his second wife Belva (Seburn) , his brother in-law Dr. James Leeson ,Ruth Ballantyne and brother in law Max as well as step daughters Belva and step daughter inlaw Grace Geyer.
He will be always remembered and sadly missed by his brother Murray (Barbara) children Margaret (Edwin Cotton) of Swan River, Manitoba, Neil McCallum (Debbie) of Ottawa, his step children Larry(Jean) Geyer, Catherine Geyer ,Bonnie Nichols ((Richard ),Charles Geyer, Kevin(Marilyn) Geyer of Fort Erie and sister inlaw Charmaine Leeson, grandchildren Andrew (Hyewon Shin) Sarah(Will Quach) as well as numerous step grand and great grandchildren

Friends will be received at Elliott Madill Funeral Home in Mount Brydges, Monday May 28th, 2018 from 7pm to 9pm. Funeral service is to follow Tuesday May 29th, 2018 from the Funeral Home commencing at 12:00pm. Internment at Mount Brydges Cemetery.
