I am very sorry about the passing of Rose. I used to work with her at Canada Post and she was a wonderful person to work with. Another former postal worker had told me about her passing today when I was at a bowling alley.

Very, very sad to hear today of your mom's passing. For many years Rose welcomed me into her home and was one of the most generous people I have ever met. Although it's been a long time, one look at the 50th wedding anniversary photo of her & Stan (posted on this site) took me right back. A lot of fond memories of holiday family gatherings, warm summer nights, and dinners at the Mathewson house! Sending love and condolences to Beth, Ron, Art and Stan from the Tucker family.

Hello Everyone - tonight is the first I have actually sat down & opened this site.
We have been in complete & utter shock ... even Monday til likely less than 1/2hr-45mins before ... Mom was great. She spent the day with Dad - morning routine trip to eye doctor by cab (eye drops blur the vision you know!). Afternoon walk together to bank & mall ... shopping & lunch. Later I had a "routine" 45min chat on the phone about family & visiting, Christmas - gifts, meals & shopping, her plans for the week. Sunday she had been at my house - I helped her order some things online (Nope - they have not changed ... still no computer, internet, cable or cell phones! lol) ... before leaving she asked me to pick a place to go for a massage or something together soon. Monday on the phone she changed her mind ... "Let's make it in January & make it a whole Spa Day together... Or maybe we can even make an overnight of it!!!"
Art had chatted with her on the phone later - I think he said around 5'ish ... all was still good ... but a mild feeling of un-well was expressed. Shortly after that she laid down ... then had Dad put a blanket on her ... next he checked she asked for some cold rub for her bad shoulder. Still unable to rest she asked him to make her a tea. Isn't that just her UK roots showing ... EVERYTHING will be better after a tea! She came out to the kitchen & had a sip - carried the tea to "her spot" in the living room & had another. She rested a moment ... and the next moment - around 6'ish - she simply slumped over still sitting up - & was already gone.
The Doctor and family are all assuming heart attack, but we chose not to investigate ... we are at a total loss ... she is at total peace ... that's all there is to say.
Dad, Art & Ron do not use computers ... I am still spinning & may not get back on here til after the funeral ... I will at some point come back & post some pictures that people may be happy to see. I will give a shout out to Ron's Patti - she is his internet life-line & will gladly bring any new messages to his attention &/or relay to Art & Dad. (If you have not been in touch in a while - Ron & Patti have a lovely home, she is a great cook & Dad has been staying with them since Monday night. He plans to stay there for "however long it takes" & they are taking great care of him!
The other really helpful yet also really hard thing for us is that Mom "did it all" ... including planned & pre-arranged her own funeral. The hard part is - our family is unaccustomed to cremation and we did not know until too late that we would not ever get to see her again after the attendant left.
For those who can & wish to make it - Friday is everything (we also didn't think or realize we could take more time than a burial) ... the Service Information is blank & I can't seem to enter any details and it is too late to call the office now.
So, Thank you for coming to this site - it's nice to know you are out there. Here's the details:
Komoka Funeral Home Location
Friday 11-1 Visitation ; 1pm - Service ; Luncheon following at old Komoka Community Centre
Loving & missing her - Beth & Boys, Caius, Connor & Cole
