Obituary of Wilma Arlene Caron
Wilma Arlene Caron of Muncey, Ontario passed away peacefully and with her children at her side, at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on July 7th, 2024 at the age of 76.
Wilma was the beloved wife of Virgil Wilson for 32 years. She is sadly missed by her children Chris (Melissa) Caron and Jennifer (Rick) Mead. She was a special aunt to Matt Tompkins and Jonah Tompkins, and a cherished grandmother of Alex Caron, Keegan Caron, Kaelin Caron, Ricky Mead and Randy Mead.
Wilma is lovingly remembered by her siblings Beth (Todd) Spence, Owen (Angi) Roberts and her many nieces, nephews and extended family. She is predeceased by her parents Ernest Arthur Roberts (1959) and Evelyn (Cadotte) Roberts (1995) and brother John Roberts (2018).
Marnie Thompson was Wilma’s special friend.
Wilma was born in Chatham, Ontario. At a very young age, she and her family moved to Mitchell’s Bay, which remained a special place throughout her life. She attended SS#8, a two-room schoolhouse in Dover Township, and later Wallaceburg District Secondary School.
Family and friends were Wilma’s passion. She took great pleasure in working with Virgil to host high-energy gatherings during birthdays, holidays and other special occasions, particularly Easter and her favourite, Hallowe’en. Their extensive, festive decorations, heartfelt generosity and genuine openness were widely acknowledged.
Wilma, better known as Puddy or Aunt Puddy by many family members, truly believed the more, the merrier (which also applied to her love of dogs and cats). She and Virgil shone at taking the lead in bringing people together at annual events like their Easter Egg hunt and their Metis assembly.
At the same time though, Wilma was renowned for lifelong one-to-one personal connections with friends, relatives and others who were important in her life – for example, acknowledging her caregivers with homemade cookie platters every Christmas, delivered by Virgil to their doorsteps, or spending hours on the phone working through life’s challenges with her huge network.
At Wilma’s request, cremation has taken place.
