Dear Elke, Petra, Martin, Julie, Kumiko and Brian,
No matter how expected a death is, it is still a great sorrow to lose a husband and father. Peter was part of our family, and we will miss him very much.
I won’t forget the time I first met him when he came from Germany to marry my big sister. He was good looking, played the guitar, and had a really good singing voice. From my teenage point of view, he was pretty cool.
In the years that followed, as I was growing up myself, I saw how he became a part of our family, someone who was there with us in times of celebration and times of sorrow. Peter had suffered the loss of his own family early in his life, and I always hoped he was comforted by his adoption into ours.
He was a gift to our family. He enriched our lives in so many ways. He was a loving father and grandfather. He was a kind and sympathetic brother in law to me and a caring uncle to Stephen and Brendon. He was so gifted and talented. We all relied on his skills as an electrician, a mechanic and computer expert. But most of all he brought us music. Peter’s singing voice will always be the background music to our happy memories of him. We will always keep him in our hearts.
