Dearest Donna and family,
Simon and I were so very heartbroken to hear that your beloved Kenny has passed away.
We have so many fond memories of this generous, loving man. One that springs to mind for me is when he gave up his heated water bed when Jimmer and I arrived at his farm after a sub zero degree cross country ski outing; he knew I was frozen solid; ended up being the best sleep I every had!!!
For Simon, on another occasion, it was when he couldn’t get the hang of cross country skiing at all, and whilst most of us managed to ski to the bonfire party in the middle of the woods, which Kenny kindly built for all of us, Simon was still struggling to get anywhere. Kenny came to his rescue and towed him out on the back of his ski-do.
It saddens us to think we will never see our darling Kenny again, but this sweet man will always be in our hearts.
We send so much love to you dear Donna and to all your family Gail (Rooster) and Simon xxxx

To Donna & family~
May memories of love & laughter light a path through the darkness of grief. Please accept my condolences & prayers. I met Ken through business & remember his courage & determination during a challenging moment in his life. With you, Donna, by his side, the mantra was: we will conquer! Has the maple leaf fallen from the family tree ~ no ~ it has floated to heaven. Perhaps with a tailgate that says: Stanley Cup Please!
Remembering a fine man,
Ellen Fisher

How do you say farewell to a forever friend. It’s hard to comprehend the loss of this kind hearted man who was good to everyone but never expected anything in return. As so many have said…..he was unique. His kindness is his legacy.

Condolences to Donna and the rest of Kens family during this time . I had worked with Ken & Doug at Murphy Distributing in the mid to late 80’s. I fondly remember playing ball hockey for Mt Brydges , having some beers and always listening to some music .. always having a laugh with the two of them …. It’s been a few years since .. but my heart hurts since I heard the news …. Everything written in the obituary is true ..Kenny was Kenny ! And didn’t pretend otherwise… only one of the many reasons I remember him fondly ….take care my friend … a new chapter begins … Tony & Mary Coyles

Dear Donna, Jamie, Sarah and your extended Maes & German families: It’s now been several days since we first received the terrible, shocking news and I must admit Ken’s passing still stings.
I’m not going to say that Ken was an original and unique man with strong - shoot from the hip opinions and a heart of gold who could, would and usually did dream big, do big and live big…. because if I did say it and Kenny heard me, we all know the look he’d give me and where he’d tell me to go…Lol!!
But that was Ken; a man, husband, father, brother, son, uncle, grandfather, friend, neighbour, farmer, mechanic, welder, golfer, dreamer and “my buddy” who lived every word in that old Frank Sinatra song, “I did it my way”…..
To you we offer our most sincere condolences.
We will forever cherish his memory in our hearts.

I remember back in the school days spending time at the Maes home.and family. In later years lost touch as he moved to the USA.
I moved to Byron and would go for the Little Beaver and Ken would stop in with his old truck and Maple Leaf flags to grab a coffee he would be working on some project in his barn.I always made a point in saying Hi..Goodbye my old friend you will be missed. My sincere condolence to his family that he leaves behind.

It is so sad to hear of Kenny's passing. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family.
I met Ken when I worked at Mt.Brydges Legion. He was one of a kind. He called it as he saw it and didn't sugar-coat anything. You got his honest opinion, usually very colourfully. Behind that forward attitude and famous beard was a kind soul, who would sometimes choke up when recalling a sad situation of anyone close to him. He had a heart for the underdog. Kenny also had a sense of humour and his raspy laugh, hand slapping and close-to-spit-takes will be missed. Rest in peace buddy

Donna, Jamie, Sarah and extended families. My sincere condolences on the passing of Kenny. Yes he was all of that mentioned in your life recollection. I knew Kenny and Camiel as John Deere customers first. He was a companionable and giving person as extold by all so far. I later had the pleasure of meeting up with him again through our connection to the Legion. He will be missed but I will forever be reminded of him as I drive past his piece of heaven on earth. GBNF
